Become a Referee

Recreational Referee Class:For any referee wishing to officiate recreational  soccer games. Class will be held on  Friday August 22, 5:00pm, and Saturday August 23 at 9:00am at Nokomis Elementary School. Both days are mandatory to obtain license.

Refresher Referee Class: For any referee that is curently licensed and wishes to renew their license for another year. Class will be held Saturday August 30, 2008 from  9 am to 2:30 pm. There will be a lunch break for 30 min. Please bring your lunch with you to the class. For license "Grade 7" or higher physical fitness testing will be done. Please come prepared for the test.

A great way to make extra money while learning more about the game of soccer is to be a referee for Ukiah Valley Youth Soccer League.

As a referee for our recreation division (district games and tournaments are different,) you:

• Work in the Ukiah Valley Youth Soccer League areas, which include Potter Valley, Redwood Valley, Calpella, Ukiah, Hopland and Anderson Valley
• Work weekdays and Saturdays Sept. through Nov.
• Officiate games for players from the ages of 4 to 15. You must be a minimum of two years older than the age you are refereeing.

Licensing clinics are available and can affect the amount of money you make. UVYSL pays an extra amount per game for any referee that has taken and passed the 18-hour clinic and becomes certified at grade 8 or above. The range of pay is $8.00 to $23.00 per game, depending on your experience, licensing and the age level of the players you're officiating.

UVYSL offers a bonus to referees who make all games they are scheduled for.

Ukiah Valley Youth Soccer continues its rapid growth, but on a collision course with a decline in referees. We must reverse this trend by creating a welcoming atmosphere; otherwise, the number of games without referees will increase.
